congealedmeat This collection of prison work songs is both depressing and impressive at once. It really drives it home to me that these people were victims of a continuation of legal slavery. It is good that these songs were preserved to be heard as a lesson and a historical record of the treatment of millions of black people

The real gems here are "When I Went to Leland", "Early In The Morning" and "It Makes a Long Time Man Feel Bad".
